Staff surveys to be reviewed

Times staff report

The results of the second teacher survey should be presented to the Carbon County District 1 School Board during Thursday’s board meeting.

The 6 p.m. meeting is scheduled in the central office board room on Rodeo Street in Rawlins. It’s open to the public.

Duane DeWald, district manager for grants and data analysis, is expected to discuss the opinions district teachers have of their daily work.

“It should explore how they feel,” he said. “Do they have the prestige they wanted, are they working ideal hours, is their pay good?”

The survey, issued to thousands of teachers nationwide, is designed to gauge how content school staff is in the work place. The teacher analysis survey is the second part of District 1 Associate Superintendent Neil Terhune’s year-long effort to study opinions of parents, teachers and students.

During the meeting, board members should also:

• Consider on second reading revised policies regarding the nurse, internships and students dropping out of school.

• Consider on first reading revisions to policies regarding the superintendent’s evaluation and the selection of valedictorians and salutatorians.
